cant get a coyote

Personally I would try and get at least out of ear shot of traffic noise....I have had coyotes and foxes hold up off at a distance or become very skittish when they hear the sound of a snowmobile engine or a vehicle heading in over a dirt road, but in saying that some hunters have called them in right next to a road depending on how heavy the traffic is. Coyotes are difficult enough to call in, I would not want a hunt ruined because of an unexpected sound of a horn or a vehicle without a muffler going by when a wiley is charging in....Just my 2 cents worth.

They are not so much afraid of traffic noise, but teh ambient sound of traffic and wind directly affects the effectivness of your caller, and your ability to hear a coyotee respond to a call. They are pretty used to those sounds now, but I try to get a ways in, and if its more then 15km wind, just as well to stay home.

I dont think traffic bothers them at all. Be more concerned about your traffic. That is to say when you pull up and park, be it a truck,quad or skidoo.

Traffic passing by doesnt bother them, but they will dial immediately in when something pulls over and stops. Follow up with a slamming door,walking noise,coughs,bolting a round into the gun,clicking in the clip,etc with a distress call and you will be a long time getting a coyote.

Everything above is correct. Stay below the horizon, I like to creep in to my spots and when I get there sit as quiet and still as possible for 20 to half hour before starting calling.

Start your your calls with a low volume, and work your way up. There could be a coyote pretty close and you can spook him with the loud call.
Keep the wind to your face while in the stand, and even walking to the stand. If your using an e caller, charge it before every hunt and bring hand calls too. Nothing worse than gearing up, trekking to your stand and your batteries are dead, or the caller won't work.
