What idiots came up with the idea to clean every moose off the Avalon. This year they have added a new area with 200 liscences and increased every area on the Avalon extra 150 and 200 liscences in every area. With my experience hunting on the Avalon the last few years moose population is down a lot, I don't know what they are trying to do by increasing all those liscences. I honestly think there are more liscences this year on the Avalon than there are actually moose, if this continues moose will be extinct on the Avalon. I know they are doing this because of moose accidents on the highway,I feel for the people who have had losses this way but in a lot of those cases accidents could have been avoided by people driving to fast. So what's next for this government? If people drown this year in the food fishery, is the answer to send out the trawlers and catch all the cod. Thank God there's a election coming up soon so we can get rid of those clowns and hopefully get someone in there who got a little respect for the outdoorsmen and the wildlife in this province

Crazy, unbelievable.

I think all 3 parties support this and more...

Yup.... This is very disappointing.

It seems according to the hunters on Facebook, the majority approve of the approach Government has taken and that there is indeed lots of moose around.

I am originally from area 34 Bay de Verde 200 extra licences in that area will go unfilled no moose at all due to poaching and licences being filled from other areas out across the island.

People are their own worst enemies, everyone will cry when it's to late.

Peter it already to late for that area I was living out their when they reintroduced the caribou out their it won't be long before that is destroyed as well I guess my kids won't get to enjoy what I do.

Sad very sad.

All good and true points being made here.  We need to feel comfortable talking about this out loud with the general public.  Make no apologies for hunting but please do so with respect to each other and the available moose population.

You know... They must have a moose management plan in place.  It would be unusual for wildlife to act outside the parameters of Governmental policy.  If there is policy it must be written down. I wonder how we would get our hands on what that policy says about a moose management plan for the Avalon

Wildlife didn't create this MMZ. This was created by an uninformed uneducated minister to keep Sopac quiet and with the hopes of gaining a few votes. Unofficially the Wildlife enforcement dept is poisoned with the decision. There is no scientific research behind it. In fact the wildlife department was not even consulted in this decision.
Kill off the moose, that's what they (government) want.

MAKES ME SICK!!!
