Guys have anyone noticed in the spring time, golden eyes flying close to houses? I always wondered why, but now I know the reason. These ducks nest in hollow trees and the ducks get fool in thinking that a chimley, (I hope thats spelled right lol) is a tree, and than if they get in one they are doomed!

  I was into a cabin I have in the woods to bring out a wood stove that I had left there,the cabin was falling down but I wanted the stove, so as I begin to clean out the stove to my surprise here was 2 golden eyes in the stove, sadly they were dead,when i seen this I thought , how many divers have died because they have got in the stoves of cabins that are so plentiful here in NL? I dont know about everyone else but I think there should be a law to make all cabin owners cover their chimleys evertime they are not in their cabins.  Or is this a law already? Whats your thoughts?

Definitely should be something done. the Barrow's Golden eyes is threatened and should be on our radar for ways of helping it. If this is happening on a large scale we should do something fast. Ed

Deon, Just looked at my fire regulations. And, during the fire season cabins with would stoves have to be have the Chimneys screened to prevent the escape of sparks! Fire season runs from May 1st-Sept 30th. Hopefully, this will get out more! Ed

GREAT IDEA ! over the winter me and my dad will make 15-20 and im gettig some funds for wood to make more from clovely golf !
