Anybody notice anything about moose tags.  My buddy gets a tag in St. John's pool 6.  My self in pool 4 did not get a tag for MMA 25 Bai Des'poir.    I think it is pretty clear there is a cull going in on the Avalon.  Nobody is complaining because they got a tag but in a couple of years you won't get your moose so easily anymore.   I used to regularly see moose around our place on the trails or on our property and this year not even seeing tracks.  Good luck to you all.

I have heard from a few people in pool 6 getting tags for St. John's.

Kevin you 100% on the money. I've been preaching that for a while now. Honestly people don't seem to care as long as they get a license. I use to hunt St. John's area. Now I wouldn't bother. There are too many hunters after too few moose. The success rated has dropped drastically but people don't seem to notice that.
Ironically hunters became very upset when the license draw had to be pushed back because of a flaw with the system. Too bad those very hunters don't get upset with government's attempt at culling our moose population.

my buddy got a licence in area 31 and he was pool 7 and my brother was in pool 5 and got nothing. The moose population has dropped big time. Peter it's like I all ways say" Something bad has to happen in order for something to get done. When there are only a hand full left, that's when the Government will do something or not...

Sopac has too much influence. Ed and myself tried to get people to fight back in 2011. Everyone ignored it or thought we were nuts. Not so much like that anymore...
If Sopac has their way, our moose population will be a thing of the past.
It's sad that they would do this to a population of any sort. Talk about wiping out a species...Should be ashamed of them selves
Hope it don't come that.
So what if all thepose are killed of and bears are the ones causing car accident? Are we going to kill all them to?
Don't make any sense.

Hunting NL is not as much fun as it used to be.  Not getting a tag four years in a row is discouraging.  Fewer hunters means fewer people give a shit.  Hunting in the St.John's MMA is dangerous because of all the bananas desperate for the few moose that is out there.

I use to hunt St. John's area to. It's not fit. There are more hunters I think than moose. We started hunting area 36. There are 1600 moose licenses for area 36. Opening day of moose there are trucks and cars every 200 yards parked on the shoulder of the road. 2015 when I got my animal the amount of people in the woods was nuts. Almost everyone had camo on. A few had orange vests some had orange hats
Some had nothing only camo. An accident waiting to happen.

I don't know if our moose herd will be able to maintain healthy numbers with the amount of hunting pressure on it.
