DFO and Environment Canada are investigating after a large number of dead fish were spotted Tuesday near the marina in Cupids. A fisheries officer was sent to the scene, but by the time he arrived, seagulls had already begun feeding on the fish. A number of dead and dying species were collected by witnesses before the birds got to them and water samples were taken. DFO says a quick survey of the area failed to immediately identify any source of pollution or destruction of habitat.

Residents say while no new fish have washed up, the bottom is still full of dead crustaceans, fish, and other species.
