Three men have been convicted and fined in connection with a couple of investigations into wildlife offences in the province. Two men, from St. John's and CBS, were convicted of illegally possessing four quarters of untagged moose stemming from an investigation last fall into hunting near the Hawke's Hill Reserve. The men were fined $1,000 each and prohibited from hunting big game for five years. Two ATVs, a rifle, and the untagged moose were forfeited to the Crown.
Meanwhile, a man from Birchy Bay was fined $750 for hunting small game without a licence or Outdoor Identification Card. The man was apprehended on two separate occasions. His .22 rifle was also forfeited to the Crown.
