what do you plan to hunt..?
Whatever you can with a shotgun.
I would say The rem M887, Cheap, shoots 2.3/4 up to 3.5 has a coating all over it, so cleaning is a breeze. Good gun all around.
any particular price range.?

In a 3 inch or less Benelli m2 or a Beretta urika 2

In a 3 1/2 inch a Beretta extrema 2 with kick off or benelli super black eagle 2 with comfortech ( try both and take which ever one feels best to you)

Flawless operation, durable rustproof finish. Hold their value and your grand children can pass them on to their grand children

I'm personally thinking about the Winchester SX3 or Browning Maxus or Browning Silver...  However if money wasn't an option I would also consider the Benelli SBE 2 or Bereta Xtrema...

Of the guns you have listed, I'd go with the Winchester SX3. I have heard only good about it. If money was not a problem, I'd go with the Beretta Extrema 2. Sometimes it's hard to justify spending 2000 on a shotgun.

With the amount of ducks around this past season, it's hard to justify spending $40 on a box of shells, let alone 2 grand on a gun.

If your paying $2000 for an extrema your paying way too much. And Extrema will run you about $500 more than the SX3. If you watch for the sales you can get them for less.

An SX3 Will run around $1100 and Extrema about $1599.00 with kickoff.

Prophet Rivers have Extrema 2 listed today without kickoff for $1399.00 plus tax.Over past year I have seen them for a little less( occasionally). Le Baron had them with Kickoff for under $1500 last year.

I have never shot or owned a SX3 so I cannot speak to thier attributes.

But whatever you decide to buy price around. It amazes me the differences in prices charged for guns. With the strong Canadian $$ prices should come down a little.

Good Luck..

I couldn't agree more Fred, with the high dollar everything should be down in price but not so. It sure do pay to shop around. Good luck Robert.

Initial price is certainly a big consideration. Equally as important how well it holds value and how well it will stand up to the harsh use us waterfowlers give it.To the best of my count my Extrema 2 has fired between 5500 and 6000 rounds. Its my go to gun for everything from snipe to Cranes ( including turres) It is thoroughly cleaned every 1000 rounds or before hunting season.Whether it needs it or not.

It has misfired once and that was due to my not putting it together properly.

I bought it 5 years ago.

Its value today might be $200 less than what I paid for it.Guns today are as much an investment as they are a hunting tool.

Like the post reads, anyone who is just getting started or someone who is being hunting for year's. What shotgun do you think will be good for them. Price wize and how the shotgun hold's up.

Thanks for your reply's
