April is a great time for training dogs of all breeds. Too often we just put the dogs away this time of year or leave them in the kennel.

All hunting types of dogs can benefit from an April Training. The only thing I dont suggest working with is water. No need to have him swimming before May. Their joints will thank you for it later in life.

After all winter your pointers would love the runs. Its nice and cool and theres no flies.Great time looking for partridge and grouse.

Fields are bare so retrieving drills are easily done.

The hounds love to run rabbits now, its a perfect time to start young pups.

And after a long winter, with longer days we can all use the exercise.Young and old dogs alike.

Get out there and enjoy it.

Fred is right this is a great time to get the dogs out before the nesting seasons start.....and remember a tired dog is a happy dog!

Ken

thought Id bump this up since its that time of year. Great time to be running your dogs, no flies, no nests, great walking. I dont however recommend doing any water work until waters warm up.
