Hey Mark i think the winds were to high to hunt coyotes today
Tony, I was out on Witless Bay Line at sunrise with my buddy. Not much wind early on and the fog was thick. We hoped that would be to our advantage because if they couldn't see or smell us then we would have the upper hand. The wind picked up, blew all the fog away and after sitting out there for two and a half hours, we packed it in. No sign of anything. Will have to try a different spot next weekend.

Thats good you got a response.  When you get them in under 200-300 yrds, try lip squeaks.  Works well.  This morning was too much wind.  One of the toughest thing about hunt yotes in NL is resisting the urge to hunt when its windy.  They will wind you a looooong way out...And once educated, are hard to fool with the same trick.  Next time your in that same area, try something different.  Good luck!

http://varmintal.com Check out this link. Good stories and all kinds of open source downloads of mp3 calls and even walks you through building your own decoys and electronic callers.

Hi, I hunt coyotes and have several calls  wireless electronic remote the best and the standard raspy rabbit blow call which seems really good call. First one I had was one I made from an old recycled cd player/radio from a toyota car.;put it into a little plywood box so I could take it on skidoo, argo or in truck. I then found a site on internet Varmit  als page where I downloaded some rabbit in distress calls, crows, and ambulance siren (they respond to that if you want to locate one)  and geese as well as the old moose for when you need to go moose huntin'; saved these calls and then burned them off on a cd. worked ok. still use it/ Best time I found for yote huntin is early morning in March month. I use 22.250 with scope and bipod.        tip;take it easy on the volume of the calling and cover yourself even your hands and face with cammo!!!!!
