set of shooting stick 's or a bipod will be one of your best investments in kit for yote hunting

Congrats. Try some dry firing. That wil negate the requirement for a bipod or stick. Good luck next time.

I'd like to take a min to throw a big thanks out to all u fine gents on this site who took the time to share some knowledge and tips on how to hunt coyotes. Especially John t who was nice enough to share some good coyote areas with me. Today at 4:43pm after just 10 mins of calling on just my 3ard hunt I shot at my first coyote. : ). I decided to use the locator. A call I've never used before. I turned up my fox pro on max let it go for about 10 seconds. When I looked here he comes full speed up across the bog. At which point my heart started to go a mile a minute. He came to about 100 yards and stopped Then turned and headed back the way it came in. Oh no. Here's where A little patients would of came in handy. Now it's between 150 & 200 yards away. Instead of waiting I decided to take my chances on the long shot. Being the first dog I called in I really wanted to get a shot off. And with no bi pod or shooting stick and adrenalin pumping heart racing shaking like a leaf I missed:(. But on the bright side my confidence went from zero to hero. And know I'm completely hooked. Can't wait to get back out there. Cheers.

Job to tell on the photo unless you had something laid on snow like mitt or tape to tell size to compare.  Some coyote females and pups are small like fox too. Sometimes I have trouble distinguishing one from the other and I've been trapping for years. Look for other things like size of scat, whats in it etc. rabbit fur caribou or moose hair all these things add up when you're trying to identify. One thing for sure when they are mating(now Jan Feb) the male fox urine has a strong odor.

Central, go in New Bay Lake Road by Peters to the right. Lots of private property in there so be careful (permission) but real good coyote hunting around caribou. I was in this morning heard one howl couple times but no show. Just getting daylight. Had a bloody big eagle harrassing me though, likes my fur hat. I had an owl come right down almost on my head one time using the raspy rabbit call, again I think he was after my cap. Need a cam on the head too ahah!
