Right on Peter, the season has to be open for the licence you are carrying. If you are carrying a rim fire riffle with a small game licence you are hunting small game . Isn't a coyote small game. I called the Dept of Wildlife to get some info on the reason for the restriction on hunters carrying coyote licences only and when I heard the reasons for it I tore each and every one of them to shreds and by the time I was finished talking to the guy I had him convinced that the restriction should be examined and possibly lifted.
Albert.
Once the small game season opens, you can use a 22. If you can use a 22 for grouse, then you can use it next Saturday the 17.
This Saturday the 10th you must use the 223, 22 250, 204, center fire 22 or a shotgun with shot size #2 or larger.
Hope this helps.
