THe province is apparently running late on getting the licenses out to the retail stores, but the NL Government service centers have them. I got my small game and coyote licences earlier this week at the service center at 5 Mews Place in St. John's (off Pippy Place).

cant seem to find any licences anywhere.only today left.the stores just tell me they are expecting them by the weekend.shouldnt all of this be organized and done well before the season opens

Right on Peter, the season has to be open for the licence you  are carrying. If you are carrying a rim fire riffle with a small game licence you are hunting small game . Isn't a coyote small game. I called the Dept of Wildlife to get some info on the reason for the restriction on hunters carrying coyote licences only and when I heard the reasons for it I tore each and every one of them to shreds and by the time I was finished talking to the guy I had him convinced that the restriction should be examined and possibly lifted.

I haven't read it in the book lately but i think that the rule stats you can shoot a coyote with any firearm that your are hunting with on any license, like a high powerd rifle if you have a moose license, and see one WHILE moose hunting, or a 22 if you see a coyote WHILE hunting small game. You can not take a 22 in the woods for the sole purpose of coyote hunting., you can only shoot them if encounterd while small game hunting.

what is the last day u can use .22 with small game license .nov???

Once the small game season opens,  you can use a 22. If you can use a 22 for grouse, then you can use it next Saturday the 17.

This Saturday the 10th you must use the 223, 22 250, 204, center fire 22 or a shotgun with shot size #2 or larger.

 Hope this helps.

peter or albert, are you guys saying that if I buy a small game license I can use a .22 to shot coyotes saturday when the season opens, or do you mean that once the small game season opens I can then use my.22 to shot coyotes? If you could clear this up for me, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
