Nd yes its easy to tell the difference between a slug and a rifle bullet...that's a given but if the rifle bullet hit no bone or didn't come out it aint as easy as you say....and that's a fact

Mark...buddy of mine got a 270 and the bullet aint very big for that so unless you cut the moose open you wouldn't really know

You can shoot a coyote with a 308 7mm whatever while you have a moose liscense but when the liscense is filled you have to go to coyote rifle to hunt them...so y would someone need one on them while moose huntin....you know what I mean......that's a dead give away that ur poachin

Well as a matter of fact ur not allowed to have the gun moose huntin...say if you had the moose liscense I'm not allowed to be in the same party with a coyote rifle. So its not so much that, its more of fellas just goin in"coyote huntin"with no caller or anything else just a gun....really how many coyotes r ya gonna get like that..je@us I can bearly get one with a caller let alone without lol I've shot one so far and that was the only one I seen

Mike, it is pretty easy to determine the caliber of a round based in an enterance wound. The difference in circumference of a slug, .308 compared to a .223 is easy to see if you have the experience. I must admit that I would be more than a little upset should th powers that be decide to ban the .223 or 22-250 for hunting. I spent a large sum of money to equip myself for long range shooting. If the department was looking for a volunteer or auxillary to help catch poachers, I would be more than happy to volunteer my time and skills. Damn poachers screw it up for the ethical hunters like us. Irritates me to no end.

That's what I was gonna say...lots of fellas poach moose with slugs...wildlife were sayin they foun 9 moose shot and left in the woods into northern pond and I don't. Know how but they said there all shot with 22-250 223...now someone tell me how the f@#k they know that lol

Next thing is ban shotguns because some people are carrying slugs.. Got to be a rumor.

Hope it's not true a lot of people bought coyote rifles, ammo, callers etc..., including myself! What a kick in the $&@&! that would be.
