Delivered my rv to the dealer last weekend for the insurance repairs from the break in last December. Also have some warranty work to be completed. They said it should be ready in about two weeks. I can't see it being done that soon considering parts have come from the manufacturer in the states. Just hoping it will be done before the salt hits the roads so I can get it back to the park. Have a nice new treed site to put it into when it returns. Can't wait for summer.

Went for a tour around the Irish Loop today. Saw 3 moose and 5 caribou. Got stuck behind a small suv towing a large camper for awhile which usually doesn't bother me. But when they can't see behind them because they have no mirror extensions it just rots me. The line of cars behind them had to number at least 20 and they had no  clue. Not to mention they have no idea what's going on with the trailer. In my opinion, if you can't  set up your tow vehicle properly you should not be on the road.

Was up at the camper this weekend  and Forestry officers came through the park. They met with the owners for awhile then left, shortly after that everybody with a homemade fire pit was told they were no longer allowed to use  them because according to the officers they are not legal or safe. What a load of bull. Most homemade pits are better than the store bought ones and last much longer. So if you have a custom pit at your site be prepared to replace it with a piece of crap from Wallyworld or C.T.

Only five more days until opening weekend! Just wondering if any of you have plans to go anywhere?  I'll be up the camper within two hours after getting off work on Friday. Lets all hope for good weather.

Went with a friend of mine to look at a few used campers. His rotted out. Looked at 5 different ones this week, and three had broken brake wires, 1of them on 3 of the 4 wheels. Where the wires come out of the backing plates and then join to the camper harness, the connections were corroded.  You might want to check your rigs for this problem.

Less than 8 weeks until the May 24. It will soon be time to get our rv's ready for the summer. A thorough check over goes a long way towards a trouble free season of enjoyment. 

Tires: check for wear, broken belts (run your palms over the tread, they should not have any high spots or crooked treads), weather cracks, and incorrect tire pressure is the #1 cause of tire failure.

Wheel bearings: they're not hard to grease, just do it at least every 2nd year.

Battery: they can lose 10% of their charge every month, always charge before adding water if needed unless below the plates then add first. Try to use distilled water,  its better for the battery life.

Propane system: check for rubber hoses with cracks or corroded fittings, spider webs and bees nests in the exhaust ports, any connections with soapy water and expiry dates on your tanks.

Water system:  Flush system thoroughly with clean water and turn off water heater bypass. You can sanitize  the whole system  by adding 1 cup of bleach to a gallon of water and add to your fresh water tank. Then fill the tank completely and open all taps one at a time until you smell bleach then close. Let stand for 12 hours and flush system until you can't  smell bleach anymore. If your pump cycles on and off with taps closed, you probably have a leak somewhere. Better find it.

Seams: They should be checked every spring and fall. Even the best made rv manufacturer's recommend this.  

Safety gear: Replace the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, check the pressure in fire extinguisher and give it a good shake if it's a dry powder one.

Lights: not the one in the fridge, the tail and clearance lights.

 This is not a complete list of things to check but I would say the minimum anybody should do for a reasonably trouble free season. Feel free to add to this if you wish, Dave.
