Read the other posts below Mark Wheaton. It was on a big island called Isle Royale in Lake Superior back in 2005-2006. There is a link to the site provided below.

The big wolf standing to the right of the moose head has a radio collar. In another photo from this series on the Isle Royale wolf study website you can see that two of them are collared. Researchers have found that this pack of wolves kills on average one moose every two weeks. Aparently moose are the only large prey animals on the island.

These are not coyotes they are wolves.

Tom Power is right about these photos. They have been making the rounds on the internet for several years now, usually with the false story about it being Nfld. coyotes. Do a google search to find the website with more photos from this series.

I'm almost certain these are photo's of the Isle Royale wolf pack in Isle Royale National Park in Michigan. John Vucetich writes about them regularly in the NY times. Good articles here: http://scientistatwork.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/03/12/when-snow-fleas...
