This one had been feeding regularly on a dead moose by the roadside. Way too much human activity in the area so I sat and waited for her away from the road where I had seen lots of tracks. Guess she would hang around there waiting til after dark to go to the roadkill. Never blew the call. Just waited and hoped she would show.
Always hearing stories of huge coyote sightings. Some over 100 lbs. even! lol. Truth is that the largest ones weighed(accurately) in Nfld. so far have been between 50-55 lbs. ,with maybe one or two slightly over that. I've shot a couple just shy of 40 lbs. myself. From what I've seen, it's hard to judge the size of one coyote by itself. It's like with bears. To the inexperienced they all look big.
great pics, what was she eating looks like shes bloated. Have you seen any big tracks around, Got one over 40 lbs and hear reports of some coyotes well over that from wildlife> Personally I havent got any over 40 but there is something back in the country that is big according to his footprint. Called one out last year just before dark in same area big wolf like and I think its him
