About a month ago I came across 3 different sets of tracks travelling together the smallest set was twice as large as any coyote track that i have ever seen, the largest set is appox 5 1/2 inches in length with claw drag marks between each step that measured a 3 foot span.

Approximately 8-10 kms North West of Hodges hills on the edge of a lake...no doubt these animals have a very large territory.

Very interesting!  Could you give a very general area where these were found?  I found two sets of similar tracks before the snow disappeared in central.  Both sets were nearly as large as my 110 lb lab!!  Considerably larger than any coyote track that I have seen in this area.  No town ie domestic dogs for miles.......

I scouted out some new coyote country after a buddy of mine told me about the tracks....I was very surprised when I came across these tracks, It was too late to hunt that area due to poor ice conditions, but if these animals breed  there will be more of them this upcoming season. I might hunt that area hard next wiley season after freeze up.

Brandon are you up for a hunt....I need a gunner on my down wind side with beasts like this in the woods?

Yup, that's a Wolf track you got there good sir! Congratulations! Kinda hard to tell where the claw marks are, but you can barely distinguish them. 5 1/2 inches is above average for an average Wolf. Since Wolf paw prints are directly related to there size, I'd say this is around an 85 lb Wolf. Big animal!

If this is what it is, they are really starting to establish themselves on the island quite fast. Multiple signs all around the place. One has to wonder... especially if they are now travelling in packs, that is a sign that there are multiple Wolves. An alpha male, alpha female, and an omega. That would mean breeding is most definite.

Anyway, if you had to see one. Would you shoot it? Man, just imagine... Mr. French would have to schedule two DNA tests then haha!
