 There is a " HUGE" difference between taking a picture of a dead animal , and taking a picture of " DEATH ", and if a hunter does not know the difference between the two as he should , then I would strongly suggest leaving the camera at home or at the very least not posting pictures of  "death " on the internet. NL seal hunters are well aware that these images can , and will lead to the death of hunting.

There is a lot sence in what you are saying, I totally agree. You have made some great points in picture taking. If you don't mind I am going to post them in a couple of different places. We are trying to remove copies of the same picture posted, 1 picture of anything is usually enough.  I also think some may not have been aware of how position an animal for a good picture.  Hopefully people will use the advice you have given on how to take a great quality picture. I am going to place this in Photography and feature your advice so everyone can see it. You make some great points.

#13 use a coat or a knapsack to cover an exit wound or even a small tree or two.

#14 if none of these things can be done to make it suitable for the general public to view post in your personal files and the stigma is not passed on.

       I have little doubt that these comments will provoke another barrage of knives to cut our  own throats as they have in the past, unfortunately it is those who come after us that will bear this uninformed attitude

Blood and guts shots are a Newfoundland thing...go check out myoutdoorzone or shareyourhunt...very rare to see the gory photos...we have World Class hunting and fishing...time to have some class......

Some tips for hunt photography

#1 photograph the animal before cleaning

# 2 Wipe excess blood off the animals face with moss

# 3 tuck the animals tongue into its mouth or turn the head so as not to show it.

# 4 turn animal so that as you photograph it your back is directly towards the sun(well lit photo) easier then it sounds, just choose the side the suns shining on and pull a leg to "tweek" it.

# 5 bending a knee underneath and rolling the animal unto its stomach Looks more life like and shows size(a stick can be cut and used to support the animal from the opposite side.

# 6turning the head sideways towards the camera on a "broad side" shot will help hold animal upright and show the antlers beautifully, set your timer or have the hunter pose behind the animals shoulder on the opposite side of the animal away from the camera facing the sun "holding it up"...the animal looks as if it is sleeping(also now positioned for caping if taking a mount)

# 7 IF you forgot too take a photo before removing the head photograph the antlers In a scenic area AWAY from the kill showing the beauty of where it lived.....note: head chopped off tight to the antlers looks grotesque,if you are not making head cheese cut them out in the field for your pic..place the tongue in salt beef pickle and send it to me

# 8  DON'T grab a bear by the ears and lift for your pose, it turns its face into a ugly grimace....grab your wife by the ears and pull see how pretty she looks.

# 9 when posing a bear lay it down head on paws facing the camera,if you want the head raised have the paws on an upraise natural object thereby raising the head(rock stump small knob) or place Bear on a large rock or knob.

#10 kneel towards the rear of the bear ,looks natural as if walking your dog and showcases the animal.(be sure to wipe the animals muzzle with moss quickly before the blood sets)

#11 choose your BEST pic and post it on Newfoundland Waterfowlers, an animal never gets bigger from one pic to the other but it will always get smaller so WHY POST 50 PICS OF THE SAME DAMN MOOSE 

#12 people dont need 10 picks of bringing it out on atv because YOU ALREADY POSTED 200 PICS OF YOUR ATV as if you were the only person on the planet to have this amazing invention..While packing it out, In a SCENIC spot, or stuck beyond belief, by all means get a good pic...good tip to hide the gore and take a great Publishable pic of your ATV  doing some work Is In an upraised area silhouette the antlers and ATV against the sky,nobody cares if its a polaris or Yamaha,those who do will know anyway.

Think of the internet as publishing your  own personal magazine,do you want to see the same pic every time you turn the page in a magazine?     ;-)

   Hunting is an age old and honorable tradition and although there are many who do not or refuse to understand , it is a GOD given right. Never the less there is a stigma that goes with hunting caused by what else  " hunters themselves". What you post is what hunting is all about and those who come after us will be forced to "BEAR IT . Take a look at your own children , whom you hope will become hunters just like us and be allowed to hunt just as we do now. So do we pass on the age old and honorable tradition or the stigma.  ITS IN OUR HANDS.

I beleave pictures should be in good taste as well, but sometimes it can be hard to have a perfect picture. However the gore could remain unseen.

Lilly dale wouldnt sell much chicken if Their pics showed a pile of feathers guts and blood along side their tray of Chicken breasts...

I think there will always be people preying on other people's money. Anti-hunting is just another form of it.
