I trapped this four years ago, the pelt brought the best coyote price for the season. The wildlife didn't do any different study on it, the carcass went with the rest of the carcasses.

I had an opportunity to visit the NAFA auction a few years ago and thats where I heard that, it was an interesting day. I worked on a mink ranch in PEI that had twenty thousand mink of which we killed twenty thousand. There were many colour phases, no white, but blue Iris, mahogany, black, pastel etc.. Ranch mink are boarded different than wilds, The saddles are removed and they are dried on boards fur out, the boards have air lines in them. Ranch mink are an whole lot different, a male black prime weighs about twelve pounds. Although they are ranched, they are as wild as the ones we trap. The top fur is absolutely beautiful.

ninety seven, best price that year. Had a mink one time very pretty, it was like a man with graying hair, wife wanted to get it mounted but I thought it was worth a lot, sold it and only got five dollars for it. Nafa said it was a rare pelt and not enough to make a coat so it had to be used for trim, so I wondered why I got ninety seven for it.
