Ahhhh...touchy subject!!! I agree with you, "honey holes" are to be valued and kept hush!...North East Avalon would be the rough area. If that's too big an area to be general...I'll say between St. John's - Witless Bay Line.
The area we hunt looks very promising... besides the 7 we shot on opening morning, the dogs lost the scent of another 3 or 4...we're guessing due to the wet rainy weather that morning. We like to keep our "honey holes" a secret...so all I can say, is that in the area we hunt, the numbers look pretty good and plenty!!
