How does everyone feel about this new ban on hunting Caribou in Labrador? good to see the government doing something but it still has to be inforced and they will have to find a way to convince the Innu to stop their hunt. That being said i can respect their reasons for the hunt in that they say they need to do this to to preserve their culture and to pass it on the the next generation. i agree with this but in my opinion if they are saying this is culture and heritage then i feel it should be done the way their ancestors did it, with handmade tools, bow and arrows, spears etc. and not a spanking new high powered rifle and no use of ski-doos to get in and out with the animal. also i do not feel it would be too much to ask for a very limited hunt from the Innu or at least give it a few years to see if the herd can rebound and grow a bit more. All that being said i still believe there is more to the decline in the george river herd than man but unfortunately government are only talking about one problem at the moment. and i'm still new to hunting and still learning about conservation and i'm really excited to help do my part and i look forward to hopefully being able to hunt for a long time to come and to teach my son how to hunt and be respectful to the land and animals and help protect and conserve our wildlife.
So how does everyone feel?
