I THINK ITS TIME WE TAKE A LONG LOOK AT THE FUTURE OF MOOSE HUNTING IN NFLD! I HAD A BULL ONLY LICENSE LAST YEAR THAT WASNT FILLED AND I SPENT A LOT OF TIME IN THE WOODS IN AREA 36 SOUTHERN SHORE! I DIDNT SEE MANY ANIMALS AND I COVERED A LOT OF GROUND. MY BUDDY CURTIS ALSO HAD A BULL ONLY LICENSE THAT WASNT FILLED! MAYBE THERE IS NOT AS MANY MOOSE HERE IN NFLD THAT EVERYBODY THINKS! MAYBE THERE SHOULD BE LESS LICENSES ISSUED OR OUR MOOSE POPULATION IS GOING TO BE ENDANDERED!
ANOTHER OPTION IS TO CHANGE THE MOOSE DRAW WHEN IT REGARDS PARTY APPLICATIONS! AS OF NOW ONLY 2 NAMES CAN GO IN ON A LICENSE. WELL THERE IS 4 QUARTERS IN A MOOSE AND A QUARTER IS ENOUGH FOR A FAMILY! WHY NOT HAVE 4 NAMES ENTERED IN A LICENSE DRAW AND ISSUE ONE LICENSE TO FOUR PEOPLE . INSTEAD OF 4 LICENSE FOR 4 PEOPLE AND 4 MOOSE HARVESTED WOULDNT BE BETTER TO HAVE ONE PARTY LICENSE FOR 4 PEOPLE! THIS WOULD CUT DOWN ON THE NUMBER OF LICENSES AND THE NUMBER OF MOOSE HARVESTED! AND THERE STLL WOULD BE PLENTY OF GAME MEAT TO SHARE!

yah a fellow works with us passed up 21 on the southern shore in one day befor he took the small bull he was looking for
You have a good point there, but groups like sopac will keep the gov on there toe's to keep putting up lic for nl.I do think there should be four to a lic, why not if you want to do it that way. It don't hurt. How many people do you hear of saying "by not this weekend i have to work" Having 4 on one lic would greater the chance of getting that tage filled, and give alot more hunters a chance to get a set of tages for a moose.
I don't think you will see a decrease in moose licenses any time soon with all the fuss over them if anything they are probably going to up the licenses. The biggest problem in the southern shore area is the road hunters, after the first month you will rarely see a moose close to the roads, I hunted up there last year on back of Renews and passed up on 10 or 12 moose before I decided to take one, and I know people who have seen upwards of 50 in one day there and a lot of big bulls.
