Powerful rifle..I owned one even bigger last year. Winchester model 70 Safari Express .416 Remington Magnum. bought it at Coastal Marine, Ammo is about $150plus for a box of 20 rounds. Shoots a 400 grain bullet.
Muzzle Vel: 2400
Muzzle Energy: 5115
Muzzle Energy 200yd: 3443
A real close range thumper..Sold it off to purchase another rifle..May get another one again in .375 H&H for next fall. Personally I love the .30-06 and is my main rifle...Will take anything in north america cleanly..but theres something about those big bangers. gotta love em...Good vid!!!
Hi Walter, just saw the video, if you were using win. spg338wm 250 grain partition gold L,XL 3 or similar ammo the ballistics would look something like this
MUZZLE VELOCITY 2650 FPS
MUZZLE ENERGY 3,899 FT/ LBS
MUZZLE ENERGY AT 200 YDS. 2,914 FT/ LBS
MUZZLE ENERGY 30.06 180 GR. SPRINGFIELD 2700 FPS AT the muzzle 2,914 FT/ LBS
As for the 500 yd. shot going through the two shoulder blades of a moose , you better believe it, and than some, it's still moving at 2,291 FPS and packing 1,813 FT/LBS of energy. At 100 YDS you could probably knock over a tractor trailer , just like the wind at Wreckhouse lol. Great video , by the way.
Albert.
Hey Walter nice video look forward to see others
Good job Walter. I would think about maybe moving the scope ahead a little, to save off scope eye. Very impressive gun, should do the job.
Tell the truth, when the gun goes bang, you feel like saying holy ship.
Good job.
