by leaving the cartilage in the ears it makes it look better i think

most trappers I know dont even bother to take the cartilage out of the ears! I do sometimes if fat push a dull spoon handle  in there and get the easy parts out.  I take it all out if I mount it, otherwise I have this wooden mallet with sharp nails in it which I use to penetrate the ears. always used it. sawdust or borax rub inside and out.
