ATV USE...

ATV use is restricted mostly in wetland areas including bogs, marshes, and barrens. In such areas, travel by ATV's is permitted only on a trail approved by the Department of Environment and Conservation.

The penalties for violations of the regulations
Penalties range from fines of between $100.00 and $500.00, or between fifteen (15) and sixty (60) days in jail, depending on the offense. A person convicted of an offense may also be ordered to restore the land to the satisfaction of the Minister.

It is. If you had a bird dog you would have a ball. Not easy shooting in the thick woods but would be a great hunt for sure.

Nice country there I bet. Sounds like a good spot for grouse.

Peter you would like it across the Exploits River (Old Mill Roads). You can travel for days and not hit the same roads. Great fishing in some of the ponds way back in the country.

That sounds like an excellent idea. Be interesting to see how many members live this side of the island and how many have atvs. We have gone from Foxtrap to Whitbourne several times. I have rode from the Goulds to Gander so far.

There are some good used atvs out there and there are a lot of abused atvs out there. When I look at a used atv, I look at the rims. Most will have a ding or 2 but if the rims are beat up its not a good sign. Look at the plastic fenders if it is cracked up it shows the bike was not taken care of. Maintaince is very important, I do my own maintaince and keep a record of it.

Some have a more reliable record than others. I've had a lot of different bikes but the 2 I have now are Yamaha Grizzly 700 and Honda TRX 350. Both are excellent. The reason I picked the Grizzly was independent rear suspension and a thick seat. Its easier on the back than the Honda Foreman I had. The Yamaha is automatic so no gears just gas and go. My son uses the Honda 350, it has a solid rear axle rides a lot stiffer and it has electric shift. Instead of a foot shift the gears are changed with your thumb. I like both of these. I think you should go to the different atv stores and look at them all and see which one you like.

I check them out here and buy in the mainland. Save on avarage $1500-$2500.I have purchased most of my atvs in Nova Scotia or New Brunswick and had them shipped in, Clarks transport was the cheapest. Check out www.autoseller.ca and www.canadatrader.com. Only buy from a legit dealership so you don't get burned, stay away from private deals. Quebec has the best prices in all of Canada almost the same as the US. Knowing when to buy is just as important if you want a good deal. Peter

Being someone who doesn't own an atv, but looking to purchase one, is it better to buy used or new for my first one? and any brand name Better than the rest? My Step-Father used to have a Big Red, I learned to ride on that so, should I stick with something with that range of power? Ed
