My 6 yr old son is absolutely fascinated with wildlife and I want to keep the excitement going to hopefully encourage him to be a future hunting partner..lol. My question is...When is the best time to view a caribou herd from a roadway and in what areas closest to St.Johns? Thank you for any info, I appreciate it as I am sure my son will too.

Southern Shore used to be in the good old days. I seen some this past summer on the Bruin pen but that is hit and miss. I honestly don'the know. Hopefully someone can help keep this young man's interest in out great outdoors.

Peter is right. But I think that you will have a job to see one from the road. Cape shore was always had good hunting grounds and you could see them from the road but not now.  A trip in the country may get you a sighting. Good luck and hope you will get to hunt with him someday.  Cheers.
