Thanks for that information Scott, and for the compliment! I can't wait to get home and try it!
I live in the Gander area and didn't know that that place existed. I will definitely give it a try. As for the fur, I was thinking about the patches of hide you get in the packages and wondering how to get that result, salting maybe?
Robin great looking fly, As for supplies I am unsure who carries them in central, there is a guy in gander(straight line sports) I think. He has a good website for seeing what he carries. In St. john's I get most of my supplies at SAEN Office or OP fishing and hunting.
The best moose/caribou hair is going to be some you hand pick of a hide. They are the easist to get if you got access to anything esle your luck and get what you can, you can always trade for other supplies.
There is a good NL fly tying page on FB
Keep it up
Thanks Peter! :)
Looks good to me!!!
Hi guys,
This is my first attempt at tying flies and I am hoping someone can give me a few tips for some flies to tie for a beginner fly fisher like myself. Also, where do you get your supplies? Does anyone use materials that they got themselves? Like moose and other furs? How did you prepare them? Thanks!
