This is my Father and Grandfathers story

About 15 years ago my dad was up to the cabin on Vineland rd in Salmonier. He was fishing in the pond next to the cabin and around 10pm he decided to go back to the cabin, he noticed a black animal walking up the road behind him and first thought it might have been a dog and never payed no mind to it, he had a fishing pole in one hand, and the black animal walked so close to him that it walked right under his free hand, he thought it was a dog at first until the tail of the animal passed right through his hand, thats when he realized it was a large cat, the tail must have been a few feet long, he noticed it was alot longer than a dogs, it amazed him, and as the large cat walked in front of him he took notice to the shape of the animal and then assumed it was a cougar or mountain lion of some sort, but he dismissed it because that type of animal was unheard of in Newfoundland.

The following year, my pop was up to the cabin and decided to go fishing in the same area my dad did the year before, it was around 6am, and as he got closer to the pond he noticed a black cat like animal around the edge of the pond in front of him, when the cat like animal took notice to pop it jumped up over the culvert and ran down the road until it was out of sight.

I was talking to a conservation officer recently who patrols the Salmonier area and he told me that there have been a good few sightings of a large black cat like animal in that area over the past 10-15 years.

a few years ago me mom  nan and my 2 pops went fishing up in around ocean pond  we went to 2 different ponds when we heard a baby crying pop ran up on the road as far up the track as he could see he seen a big black animal he said it it looked to bigger then a german sheppard when i went home i looked up the sound at it was a moutain lion sound , also we did see track in the mud up the track
