Area 36 use to have a 70% success rate. This year it was 45%. The mix of licenses should be based on science and not the government. We had a very healthy moose herd now with poaching and SOPAC, moose are almost decimated. This was dry cow.
That's not good. Cows should not be on the license if you ask me. But they are, it only should be very few
I had a conversation with a fella yesterday. Appearently a helicopter left St. John's flew to Corner Brook with wildlife division people on board. They counted a grand total of 3 moose between St. John's & Corner Brook.
That is not a very postive report for our moose population.
Just checked the moose app, still nothing. The new department must have made some mess of the moose apps. Imagine moose hunting is worth an estimated $100 million annually and it's treated like trash.
