So besides a gun obviously, what would anyone here recommend as essential to hunt? If i wanted to go out this weekend for my first hunt what are the main essentials i would need? i'm just looking to get a list started as to what i need to pick up so that i can go out for a hunt when i want to during the season. any luxury items i can pick up along the way as i learn more but i'm looking to know what i absolutely need for the hunt.
Thanks.
Phil.

Camo pants, jacket & facecover. You will need a caller and decoy. Caller can be electronic or hand call. You can make a decoy from a feather, fishing line and a stick. The last thing you need is a little luck. Good Luck with it.
A LICENCE TO HUNT,,A CALLER FOR COYOTES,,GLASSES.. DRESS IN CAMO,,GOOD GPS , GOOD BOOTS..
i actually found a coyote caller app on my blackberry there today. $3 and came with 25 calls, came with a good few distress calls including pup, woodpecker, cottontail, jackrabbit, mouse, rodent, chicken, fawn, and a few others. and it came with about 7 or so different coyote howls and barks. gonna go check out some speakers now the weekend and hopefully going to give it a try next weekend. i was planning on getting out this weekend but renos on the house took priority, so hoping for next weekend.
Patience...Big time..learn from your mistakes
Most important, keep it light or you won't be walking far, especially once the snow comes. Try and work out your gear so it all fits in a small backpack. Others here have made some good suggestions. A bipod would be a good investment. I would also add a good seat because without it you won't be comfortable and then you will be constantly moving around. Also try and find a good pair of snowshoes if you plan on doing any going in the snow. Not the newfangled aluminum ones with plastic decking though. They are VERY niosy. Not good for walking in to a coyote stand. Lastly, get snow camo! The best coyote hunting is mid to late winter and snow camo really makes a diference.
Make a pair of shooting sticks. I just ripped up some 1" strips about 32" long, bolted together about 3" from the end. Some nails in the end to stick in the ground, some brown stain, and you are good to go.
