Brandon. Welcome to coyote hunting. You could get many responses to your question because it is partly personal preference that decides the selection. I chose the remington 700, sps tactical with a .223 caliber due to my experience as a markaman in the military and the desire to have a short and heavy 20 inch barrell. The heavy barrell is ideal for cutting down on vibration for precision shooting. At the end of the day, you want a system that you can shoot accurately. You owe that respect to anything that you target. Do lots of research and ask lots of questions to help form the gun that will do the job and not break the bank. Best of luck and remember to practice your marksmanship and know exactly where your rounds will land before you head out to hunt. Cheers,
Mark

You did a great job on that mount

Hi OLeary, That was the first coyote I shot so I mounted it like that. Did several wall mounts since that. Nice hobby, anyone who works with fur can do it after a few tries and with utube now and internet videos you cant go wrong . The forms are readily available at taxidermy supplies outlets. That coyote was a 40 lb male with a great winter coat.

The reason why people can't use snares with a coyote lic it because if you do not have a trapping lic then you can't snear coyote.

tried it on a bunny ok as well as a coyote It had too much damage from my  22.250 close range shot down its back. If its a good winter pelt I usually take the head for a wall mount.
