Well idon't know if they are down in torbay, but as for going to shore try going to clift area's and not a beach. By the way the rougher the better.
thanks peter! that's what i got done, old black decoys with an eider facelift. i will try the flags too
Scrol down the page, John has the flags at work.
If you are hunting on land, try 2 poles and some black flags tied to a rope. Run the rope between the poles tie on the flags 2 feet apart stand up the poles and eiders should come right in to the flags. Its a hell of a lot cheaper than buying decoys. You can always paint old deoys to look like eiders and use some javex bottles. Save yourself some money. See John Smallwoods videos and pictures he has the flags out and working. Good luck.
Thanks Kenneth, i got 12 decoys there now! Do you know if any birds are down around torbay? Also does it matter where too on shore? This is like a different language to me!
Well blake first get around 20 eider decoy's i one string and point them towards the shore, close to the shore. If you are on land get a good dog.LOL. If you are in a boat get a trap for the boat to make your boat look like a rock out in the water. People use alot of diff stuff to do this, some use netting and other's use tarp's. Up the shore is a good place to start or down in petty harbour i heard that they are good hunting down there. Decoy's will run you $50.00 for 4. Hope this help's.
looking at starting eider hunting! need some pointers, on location, decoys, off the shore or boat? i'm lost right now!
thanks
