What kind and number size of shells do you use for turr hunting? I'm wondering if the Winchester shells at Walmart with 100 in a case are any good? $ 30 for 100 shells not bad. I use # 4.

heyy rich i was reading about ur troulble with rough sea and for real rough sea i use lead anchors with 4 steel prongs but in rougher conditions i will have up to 12 prongs in the anchor once u makes the first throw make him count the more prongs the more chances it will setup and like corey said always have a second. This keeps them off very well trust me i do alot of hunting round a shallow shore.

So guys how is the Eider situation in your areas. Few birds around here but not plentiful. Anyone having better success than I am? Hope so, LOL.

Looks like a great setup for deploying eider decoys in salt water. Going to try it on the next eider hunting trip.

Actually the line connecting the weight is really strong. If the weight happened to hook up i usually have a secong anchor and line that i throw out over the decoys and haul them back throug the ring backwards, unsap the decohy and haul the line bach out through the anchor again. You will loose the anchor but save your decoys. I have had to do this numerous times!

THanks so much Corey, This is exactly what I needed! I assume that the wieght is tied to the ring so that in the advent that it gets caught you can snap the line connecting the weight to the ring. This is a great setup!! Cheers for sharing it with us here!! ED
