Murre (turr) hunters:

All hunters must purchase and be in possession of a Migratory Game Bird Hunting Permit and a Habitat Conservation Stamp while hunting murres. This hunt is only open to residents of Newfoundland and Labrador. Murres are the only migratory bird that can be legally hunted from a power boat. Any occupant of a boat who shoots or retrieves murres, or anyone who operates a boat to pursue murres, is hunting as defined in the Migratory Birds Regulations and is required to hold a Migratory Game Bird Hunting Permit.

In Newfoundland and Labrador, non-toxic shot must be used to hunt migratory birds, except for murres (turrs). For those birds still hunted with lead shot, remove the lead shot before cooking whenever possible in order to reduce your exposure to contaminants.

in the rules and reg it says you are allowed 20 per day and 40 in your possesion per person,if you have three guys in a boat does that mean your allowed 60 turrs for that day,or is it 40.

Man what are you gettin on with years ago peoples would got out and shoot 2 or 3 hundred for the day.....we still got turrs don't we.I don't like to see people abusing anything but man your gettin like a  grow up by or get a life or something.your probably jealous cuz you don't get your limit and other people do...people like you shouldn't be allowed on this site because your tryin to start a racket over nothing!!!!!

What your saying doesn't make much sense, I know those numbers because my friends who never went out counted 42 in argentia and and 20 odd in placentia so it's 2 places 3 miles apart. The last time I was out I never killed my limit to be honest with you. I have grown up my whole life in placentia and I kills me to see the turrs wipes out as they have been in other areas . If you call it alright. To abuse something to the point where it is wiped out, you shouldn't call yourself much of a hunter. If you can't agree that turr numbers are declining you must blind.

I agree , whats wrong with dropping the limit, or enforcing the limit VS. possession limit. Some people will just go the hell with it anyways.. No matter what.. The same with trout, salmon moose ,, theres always a few greedy ones out there with the full freezers, and wouldnt give a feed to anyone, but throw it in the dump next year.. But there are good people ..Oh yes  its not all bad.

As far as I am concerned a lot of the crowd on this site don't have a clue if you figure that the amount of turrs tht come out of placentia bay are not greater than say 10 years ago you really got to wake up I know for a fact that on Saturday past approx 65 boats went out between placentia and argentia (not including the bottom of the bay) if these boats got 40 each that 2600 turr on that day alone 10 years ago there would be about 5 boats 40 turrs each that's 200 turrs. You don't have to be a genius. I am not saying everybody doesn't have the right to a meal of turrs it's just we should reduce the limit to 10 turrs per person and enforce it. Before we lose it. Also saying that people in placentia are idiots is a strong statement, that is unfair and very child like in it's self. If all you guys want is a day out in boat what's wrong with reducing the limits.

I think a lot of it now is for bragging rights. So when they comes in they can say to there buddies o we got this many birds in this amount of time....so what.I'd rather spend a day like saturday past on the water the whole day just for the fun of it than have to race to beat the next fella seems like people are fogettin the fact that we can still go and do it.same as codfish I counts down the days to get out there not to race but to spend time on the water with friends..my old man and mudder and my women even goes that's the best of it all not to race and get the fish...if I wants fish that bad taylors in foxtrap got lots
