All hunters must purchase and be in possession of a Migratory Game Bird Hunting Permit and a Habitat Conservation Stamp while hunting murres. This hunt is only open to residents of Newfoundland and Labrador. Murres are the only migratory bird that can be legally hunted from a power boat. Any occupant of a boat who shoots or retrieves murres, or anyone who operates a boat to pursue murres, is hunting as defined in the Migratory Birds Regulations and is required to hold a Migratory Game Bird Hunting Permit.
In Newfoundland and Labrador, non-toxic shot must be used to hunt migratory birds, except for murres (turrs). For those birds still hunted with lead shot, remove the lead shot before cooking whenever possible in order to reduce your exposure to contaminants.

in the rules and reg it says you are allowed 20 per day and 40 in your possesion per person,if you have three guys in a boat does that mean your allowed 60 turrs for that day,or is it 40.

lol it better be 3 1/2 galvanized next time cause i needs a few hand fulls... lol yeah they lost we just went and put the boat off on the other side... that slip way is bad anyways cause if its low tide you have some trouble getting your boat back on the trailer
It was said in another post that it was just a few guys who did that. It only takes a few hands to make it bad for everyone else. Guess what it didn't stop anyone from going out again, so i guess those guys lost.

pretty bad when people starts dumping boxes of nails out on the slipway so people wont launch there boats
lol looks like the turrs might get there going over again the weekend.... hopefully anyways
Hey tony i was not poking fun at what you wrote, because what you wrote was true, that's why i wroye funny. As for alot of pressure on the turrs in placentia bay, i don't think that the population will be hurt. FACT, Wildlife sent me a message on the tagged turr i got and they said they tagged over a million birds just in a few years. They are the only ones they could get. So the population would be far great than that. I not saying that all the boats would wipe out the turrs in placentia bay, because it kinda like have a cull on turrs. 50 boats 3-4 people in a boat. around 3-4000 turrs taken in one day. Just my 2 cents. I am from placentia bay and i don't vare if people from other town hunt there. It's a fee world.
Not arguing against your Views Tony, just trying to further the discussion. Hoping someone had more data. Don't get me wrong, I want to have a turr hunt for years to come. And, maybe more research has to be done! but if we don't have a full debate and get a consensus no one will listen (officials making the policy) to what we have to say.
