Ed,
We are a Canadian based organization as we were started here in Canada by James Ford Bell on the Delta marsh located on the shores of Lake Manitoba. The Delta marsh is still home to one of our research stations along with Minnedosa MB. We do have a U.S office in Bismark, N.D as well as our Canadian office in Winnipeg M.B in which is also home to Mr. Rob Olson as the president of Delta Waterfowl. As for increasing populations we have many different programs such as our hen house program, predator management and our ALUS program which is also a land conservation program that benefits all wildlife and humans living on the Canadian landscape. We also continue to do research to come up with new and creative ways to make these programs better and better.
Alternative Land Use Services (ALUS) is an ecological goods and services program proposal that is unique because it’s designed by farmers, for farmers. It recognizes the value of conserving and restoring Canada’s natural capital while respecting and rewarding the important role that farmers play in environmental management.
By its nature as a farmer-led initiative, ALUS encourages the active participation of farmers and ranchers in conserving natural capital and environmental benefits. ALUS would mobilize producers as conservationists. It would also provide a national opportunity to communicate the environmental benefits of agriculture and the ecological services that farmers provide to all Canadians.
Vision:
To secure the future of waterfowl and waterfowl hunting.
Mission:
Delta provides knowledge, leaders and science-based solutions that efficiently conserve waterfowl and secure the future for waterfowl hunting.
As both our mission statement and vision statement say we are for the future of waterfowl and waterfowl hunting. This is were you will get no assistance what so ever from DU on important issues such as abolishing the long gun registry or standing up for hunting rights from the top of Federal government down to local municipality government clean across Canada. Delta has many success stories across Canada were we have stood up for local and national hunters to help protect there rights to continue to hunt and sport shoot. We have staff that work on these issues constantly day in and day out making sure that we are doing everything we can to ensure our future generations will get to enjoy the great hunting traditions this country has to offer. These issues are hard for some other organizations to fight government on due to the amount of government funding that they receive on a yearly basis for there programs to operate.
If you or anybody else should have any questions about Delta, it's rich Canadian history or it's programs please do not hesitate to contact me.
Thanks,
Mark Clifford
