I am very interested in starting up, the Newfoundland ATV Federation.

I think the time has come for us to stand up to the forces that want to see this sport gone completely. The amount of tourism this sport could create in this province is astounding. We have a beautiful province, rich in wildlife, scenery and the friendliest people in the world. The government, I'm sure is aware of the potential for the influx of visiters, to view this province via the old railway bed.

The Trans Canada Trail group has withdrawn all support to the trail system that allows atv use.

My answer to that, "the hell with you". We will look after our own trails and build our own trail system like they are doing on the Burin Peninsula.

So, if you are interesting in building this great pass-time, you need to stand up now.

If you decide not to stand together now, don't complain in the future when you don't have any place to ride your atv.

Peter, I google this topic and seems to me you well still be allowed to use the old CN railbed if in fact your allowed to do that now.  This railbed is a "Linear Park" managed by Dept. of Tourism, Parks Division and by law all motorized access requires a permit, since its seldom enforced it's not something to get excited over.  With respect to the Trans Canada Trail group dropping funding on summer motorize trails this relates mainly to new trails and upgrading the surfaces on existing trails where motorize vehicles are now allowed.  With respect to our old CN railbed to my knowledge the Trans Canada Trail group have never spent a great deal of money there anyway, the Parks Div. have inspected most of the bridges and done some repairs as well as trim alder on some sections.   In saying this it would still a good idea to form your organization as there are still other issues out there that can negatively impact ATV users.  Good Luck
