Ed & myself were talking to the boys from Inland Fish & Game (wildlife officers). They have informed us that they are giving warnings to anyone hunting in Third Pond. The reason- The Race Track has been deemed, an athletic field. This means you have to be 1000 meters from the race track to hunt, which puts just about the entire pond off limits to hunting. They informed us they will be handing out warnings until a point in time, when they feel the public should be aware about the restrictions. Once that time has come they will be charging anyone caught hunting in that area.

I wonder if anyone in the hunting community was asked to any of the meetings , if in fact there were any, for their input since it was their hunting area that was being lost before this ban on hunting was imposed.

Thats unfortunately what happens with the growing population we have in the Goulds and surrounding areas
Basically, it's a "public gathering area"...there is also the Hideaway Lounge there as well..So, in reality, who wants people shooting within close quarters to a lounge and racetrack. I live in the Goulds, and have hunted/fished third pond since I was a youngster...I knew the day would come..especially once the racetrack dropped all the trees along the pondside/river. Was a Great spot for duck hunting... now, it's a duck sanctuary...
So it was deemed an athletic field . One question , " which ones are the athletes , the " horses or the " HORSES ARSES ", who sit in the buggies with the whips.

The wildlife officer said he had not checked the distance and was unsure. Remember you have to be 1000 meters from the race track. Give them a call to be safe, I wouldn't want you to get in trouble.
