I have tryed to pluck my first duck on Sat past and had no luck doing it. I would like to hear some good tips on how it is done the easy way.LOL I am used to taking the skin off and cuting it up for soup. Any help i can get will be great. Thanks.

I usually do it after I shoot them when the bird is still warm, the feathers come out a bit easier. If you pluck them well after they've cooler or have been in the fridge for a bit, boil a pot of water and dunk them in for 3-5 seconds. Just grab small clumps of feathers between your thumb and index and pluck with a snap of the wrist. It still takes a fair amount of time and patience to clean it well.

I simply grab a bunch of feathers and pull straight up towards the head.

Once the bulk of feathers are out i sometimes use a pair of tweezers and pull out the moots.

Then i use a cigarette lighter to lightly burn off all that fuzzy crap (not sure what its called)

Finish product is bare skin, just like a chicken you buy in a grocery store!
