Hello, Just wondering what are the ideal wind conditions & when is it time to give it up for the day?

Well don the best wind is no wind.A good wind is around 15-25k, i think after that you are wasting your time. Hope this helps.
thanks Kenneth, that's a great help, i was wondering if the wind is around the 25k mark would you set up further down wind ?
Depends on how much open space you have to work with.
Hey don tony cooney is the coyote Admin, He will give you any good tips you are looking for as well.
I would agree with Ken, especially if you know you have a great site.I believe that for coyote you have to hunt the right days and not the days that you have the time.( kind of like turres) The high winds will disperse scent and its more likely they will get your scent. They will very quickly do the math Human smell + squeeling rabbit = trouble
at that point you can kiss your good site bye bye.
If you do call in the wind be sure to leave the down wind open( set up on a cross wind.) for a long ways so he cant swing into the scent cone.Ponds work well for this. This should give to hunting chances on strong NE and SW winds. But personally I havent had much luck in wind.
Good Luck
A big part of coyote hunting is knowing when to stay home. And like Fred said you have to hunt the good days and not just the days that are good for you. Alot of new hunters out there. Remember once you educate a coyote you'll have a hell of a time calling him in again.
