Just had a fat lump removed from my black lab and was suprised by the cost of it. Was quoted a price of between $300 to $400 witch isn't bad. The total cost ended up being close to $800, after she riped the cut open and for 20 min work to repair costing $200. Would have costed another $200 if I wanted to get it tested and a blood test done. No wonder there is so many cases of pet abuse reported, if you can't afford to get treatment than you have no choice to take other actions. In saying that I would never consider nor support these actions. Good job we're not paying for our health care!!!!

The sad thing is that a pet receives better treatment then we do! No wait lists, etc!
I know the feeling, my Lab got into a raw hide bone one day at a friends house and ate it causing here to cut her insides when it came out the other end, the visit to the vet cost me $500 for that then a week latter she had more issues caused by allergies to certain foods, cost another $200 for the visit and allergy pills PLUS $500 to have a bit of blood taken and allergy test done, then I had to buy the food at the vets that is close on $80 for a bag ( I think). Now with all that done she still chews her paws flat out so I have to wonder if it was ever the food at all. Every time I leave the vet office feels like I was bent over and f^*&ed but ya gotta do what ya gotta do for your dog I guess. I recently started bringing sadie to Paradise vet clinic, I find that place alot better for service and handling the dogs, use to use the one in Mount Pearl and after the last few visits was higly disgusted with the vets I had to deal with, actually scared of the dog, If im paying a couple hundred bucks per visit you would expect alot better service.
Payed $3800.00 to get the dogs hip done.
Just got two more dogs and a set of gps collars. not cheap.
Molly is 9 now and in really good shape, she do run 5 days a week with me in the woods while working, the vet was even impressed with her. But when a family pet and companion gets sick you will do what you can to help, especially when your little boy says "why can't I play with Molly?". The service I got was really good and they were good to the dog, even called the next day to see how Molly was doing. I was just surprised when it cost $200 to fix a 3/4 inch tear in the wound that took 20 min, maybe should have had more in the first place.
