Two guns allowed this time of year?

If coyote is the only season open now, am I allowed to take my rifle (222) and also a shotgun for backup with BB shot.

u can use your shot gun..but if u carry two guns at once one has to be in a case locked at all times...u cant carry to ready to shoot guns in newfoundland...

Can I use a shotgun only this time of year.. I tell you the way I see it, if wildlife stops you, The scenario is they finally stop someone, you only have a shotgun (this time of year, nothing else in season) are you legal. I know the way it is, they will try and find something wrong, and I have nothing against them, thats the way it is. Last week a friend of mine had a spare gun while turr hunting, it wasnt cased and not loaded. He ran over too their boat because they were starting and stopping as if they were breaking down.. (acting as if they were broken down to draw attention) so anyway they took his gun, I know its tecnically the law but. COME ON, no wonder they lose respect.

Also if this is true or not and maybe it belongs in the Turr Forum but it was here about shooting razor bills and getting charged,, how do you know if you are shooting a razor bill in the "heat of the moment" and if you do what do you do then .. Throw the dead bird back in the water.. Anyway back to the shotgun question..Is it legal to use a shotgun now with BB shot. Have your rifle, and a shotgun cased for a spare with you and not loaded.

You can legally carry a shotgun for coyote hunting, however you must have # 2 shot size or bigger. You can use # 2, BB, BBB, 00 BUCK SHOT,  000 BUCK SHOT. I'm not sure if there are are others for coyote hunting. You can legally carry as many guns as you want but they must be unloaded and in a case.

Its the responsibility of the hunter to properly identify what he is shooting at. If your not sure, dont shoot.

Razor bills are very easy to identify as are puffins.

No doubt some of the laws are stupid, but they are are the laws.Its the job of a wildlife officer to enforce them.Its the job of hunters to know them.

Given the amount of talk and complaining there has been over turres in the last 12 months. There is little wonder they are enforcing the laws as written strictly.( maybe rightly so)

I have been hunting small game since I was 10 ( 41 years) I have never been asked for a small game license.

I have been turr hunting maybe 6 or 8 times in past two years and checked 5 times.( maybe rightly so) but make no wonder, the squeaky wheel gets the grease.

jeff u can use just a shotgun..#2 shot or bigger.. no slugs..as for your buddy the law is the law my friend..as a hunter its ur responsibility to no...and as for the razor bills  its also our responsibility as hunters to no what we are shooting at... a rule of thumb is if ur not 100 percent sure in the heat of the moment...DONT SHOOT...  there are ways to tell all birds apart even if there in flight..i suggest a little research...or use binoculars.....hope this is helpful guy...happy hunting...and if u do decide to carry two guns...always leave one cased an locked...

 Shotguns and .22 cal. Rim Fire rifles can be used to hunt coyotes only when a small game season is open, and you possess a valid licence for small game. Since all small game seasons are now closed , with the exception of " coyotes  only " center fire rifles are the only firearms legal.

Peter I got it loud and clear,, You see what I mean there are some many different opinions and answers. So I can use my rifle (.222) and have a shotgun with me cased, not locked , and unloaded, this time of year.

I assume the .222 is a center fire, your good to go. Make sure you have the proper # shot size and all is good. If you are still a little iffy, you can look it up in the Hunting Guide. Good luck!!

How about Sunday hunting, are you allowed to hunt on Sundays till July 7 for coyote.
