Should the $25 bounty on coyotes be increased

what do you think it should be and why

Easy answer.... It's not a bounty therefore no increase. It's a payment for the return of the carcus to wildlife for research. That will end sooner or later and then there will be nothing offered. The Dept of Wildlife has been very clear on this.

I agree. Nova Scotia did away with bounties but then brought in a program for trapping, called a pelt incentive, after that fatal encounter in Cape Breton Highlands National Park in 2009 ($20.00 per). Had it not been for that death, it is doubtful that any monetary incentive would have been continued there. Residents of that province can shoot coyotes at any time during the year with what they call a Base Hunting Licence. With all the sightings around schools and residential housing, we'll probably have ours for at least another year.

THat is a good question first i have to say that i think most hunters are not hunting coyotes for the $25 dollars simply because you spend more on gas looking for the coyote..If they put the price up say to $100 a coyote you still lose money.because i dont think there are as many coyotes as people think,im hunting them for almost a year and got 1 ,,,,,,,,

yel an increase would be nice but $100 ..you know what that will do ,that will only bring out every yahoo shooting anything and everything that moves on the country . now we don't need that, where trying to save our wildlife from the coyote...and you said  there are not as many coyotes as people think  well I think there are more coyotes on this island than anyone will ever know.

How long does it take to get the $25.00 my buddy put in three coyotes in beginning of October and hasnt seen anything since.

the money you get  got nothing to do with me hunting them the thrill of the hunt and seeing  them come what a rush i did not kill one this year yet but i got 300 in gas gone in to it this year so its not the money

I Hope nobody is looking at doing the how to hunt coyote workshops....Government has eliminated the program and job that goes with it. 18 people gone with wildlife during the cuts

I would think that pretty much all the info Government would want from carcasses,they now have on coyotes. For sure that would need some follow up stuff. Tracking collar info etc. For for most part theres little further need for any bounty program at all.

Now if they would only move the opening date ahead to coincide with small game and waterfowl season or make shotguns like the 22 rimfire, only usable for coyotes in conjunction with a small game or waterfowl licence during open season.

I agree with Dion simply because, if you up the bounty to $100 you will have every Tom, Dick, and Harry in the woods calling these very intelligent critters. More less educating them because it takes more then one sitting to understand these animals. By calling stand after stand after stand and producing nothing simply states your not doing something rite, therefor educating dogs with your scent and the sound of the call. Most people call coyotes but never see them. So I think its good at $25 or even nothing for them, this way it will keep only the die hard's in the woods.
