I'll be picking up a 22-250 soon and I'm undecided about getting a camo stock blued barrel or black synthetic stock stainless barrel. Both have their advantages but just looking for peoples opinions about them being used strictly for coyote hunting. Does a camo gun make that much of a difference? I also have concerns about the coyote spotting the stainless barrel. It will be used during the winter months a well.

Thanks for the feedback guys! Leaning towards the camo with blued barrel. On a side note my folkes were up to their cabin last week and woke up in the morning to see that coyotes had killed a caribou right in front of their cabin on the lake during the night. They saw 3 coyotes that morning go over to the caribou to feed on it. Unfortunately they never had a gun up with them.Makes me wonder what kind of impact they are having on the caribou population here in the province. It must be an all you can eat buffet for them in the spring when all the calves are born.
A sand-blasted stainless barrel is much less flashy. Blued steel is just as bad as polished stainless. I have a Tikka with a dull stainless barrel and camo stock. Also topped with a camo scope. Very little glare from that combo. Another thing I would like to point out is that stainless with a synthetic stock is much more durable for our NL weather and the stuff we sometimes have to struggle through to get to a hunting spot.
While I do not have a stainless barrel, I agree with the reflection off of it. I personally use a
Black Matte finished barrel.
My son has a Blued Barrel wrapped in camo tape, but found out that when the tape was removed because of normal wear & tear, that there was lots of rust on the barrel. Hope this little bit of info contributed to your question, Good Luck & Happy Hunting. Pierce.
Went out to pick up my 22-250 yesterday and they were all out of the camo stock blued barrel.Little disappointed for putting it off for so long so I picked the stainless up instead.Nothing a bit of camo tape cant fix I spose! On the bright side the barrel is not flashy at all and doesn't appear to have any reflection come off of it. Looking forward to getting into coyote hunting.
Hey Kris, How do you find the Bushnell scope that came with the gun? I was thinking about upgrading to something with a little more magnification but after looking through it it seems like it may do the trick for the time being. Have you taken any shots around the 200 yard mark or longer with it yet? Thanks!
