Closure of The CBS Railway Bed to Off Road Vehicles

The town of CBS is trying to close down the Railway Bed. According to one of our members. The Group "Avalon Trailway" supports this. I have created an online petition to try and combat this. I would appreciate any and all signatures.

The petition is located at    http://www.petitions24.com/cbs_railway_bed

According to The Telgram last October and an old NTV report from 2012 there would be a bypass for ATV's, has this change been confirmed??

The Telegram says there will be a separate section for ATV's

Conception Bay South unveiled a plan Thursday for redeveloping the T’Railway that runs through the town. The walking and biking trail would run from Topsail to Seal Cove and would include a bypass for ATV riders. NTV’s Heather Gillis reports.

peter they are as far as eassons rd across from manuals irving and they have gates up. I have a e-mail from the cbs mayor stating that he has the support of an atv association but he doesn't say witch one

There is only one that I know of. I believe Rick Noseworthy Started it himself years ago, called Avalon Trailway Corparation. I can't believe any ATV association would agree to closing trails.  The petition is up 4 hours and there are 290 names and growing fast. I will contact Mr Noseworthy and see what his stance is on this matter.

It's not an association. It's the Avalon Trailway Corp. I spoke to Rick Noseworthy. They did agree to the closing of the railway bed, but the new trail that is being built was supposed to open at the same time the railway bed was shut down. This has not happened. Rick Noseworthy from the Avalon Trailway Corp told me, he would not support our petition but he would not hinder it either. He also told me, there had been meetings held on this subject  and no one showed enough interest to attend any of the meetings.

As usual, no one seems to care until it's too late. I haven't spoken to the Mayor or council of CBS yet, but I hope to.

Hi Peter,'Trailway' is closed from Spruce Hill Road to west of this area .Spending more money on the Trail than they are on the roads! You will never see another Trail opened....you will soon have to trailer your quad up to the TCH to get on old rail bed.....very sad as thee are such nice views from the Trailway along the shore of CBS.Petition is signed...

Where about is Spruce Hill road. The agreement ATC had with the CBS council was the railway bed would remain open from the Foxtrap Marina in Foxtrap to Holyrood.

spruce hill rd is in topsoil

Until the new trail opened.

Don't think there will be another Trail Peter.....

Spruce Hill is between Buckingham Drive and Topsail Road.....yes...in Topsail....

According to the ATC, they are hoping construction could start as early as next year. I'm not holding my breath but I will hold their feet to the fire on their promise of a trail.

Hi Peter, just read a notice on CBS Council website that motorized vehicles are prohibited from using T'railway from just east of Sprucehill Rd in Topsail to Indian Pond in Seal Cove. You can check it out on the website....
