BLACK BEARS IN SHIP HARBOUR PLACENITA BAY

While on my summer vacation a few people had seen some black bears just outside the town. There was only one seen at first and then another in a different location just a mile apart. Seen on the same trip just a few min apart. Another two was seen a sow and her two cubs. I guess they are moving east looking for food. It seem that between ship harbour and fox harbour they are seen the most standing on the side of the road. Rocky pond and the rattling brook is there hang out. Just though I would share.

Just goes to show there are lots of bears around. Good idea to keep that in mind when in the country. Thanks for the story Ken.

Well this is how I see it. If the population get to big, maybe I wount have to go travel for two hrs to try and hunt a bear. Maybe other areas will be open for bear hunting.

Bears have been spreading into the avalon for a good few years now. I guess after a while when the numbers are sufficient there will be a bear hunt on this side of the island. I hope they don't wait to long.

I have seen bear tracks in the mud in the Middle Gull Pond area two years ago.
