I am constantly coming across illegal cabins on crown land. I am busy going through all the hoops to get a location legally but I am beginning to wonder why bother.... really. This week I came across three very nice illegal cabins, very nicely built. I know for sure they are illegal since development has been restricted, and no registration number is posted. Is there a reporting process or do we all just do what ever the hell we want to.

There really isn't a lot of red tape involved. Go to the office and ask about a few areas where you would like to build and find out what is possible. Check out the area, GPS coordinates. Read one page of requirements, things like... you must build 35 yards away from water, remote cabin means 1 km off of a maintained road. Permission to build an access road for your quad permission to build a dock. Pay your money and wait for a reply. Now if you want to build a populated area then it is nearly impossible, like the Avalon. I don't think it is that difficult, people just don't want to read simple directions and people really think they should be able to do what they want. That is anarchy people and none of us would really want that in our back yard.
