I have one!! Finally!! LOL. He is a Beagle mix named Hunter and he is 12 weeks old. any tips on training would be really appreciated. ED
Great time for walks in the woods, some pups actually will start chasing around this age. keep it fun and spend as time with as you can. Do lots of COME ( use treats)

Max should be ready for the field this year. He is a 10 month old Lab.

We have started daily light walks to work off some winter weight.....(both of us lol) I'll increase the intensity as time goes on.

I'm thinking may before I get him back into the water again.

Great time for walks, work on the leash work and his basic obedience, SIT,HEEL COME and STAY. If possible an obedience class wouldnt hurt.

Start your training sessions witha 15 min walk and end with a few tosses with his favorite toy.

KEEP IT FUN..for both of you

I wouldnt go to the water until later either.

Corey for you its time for you to decide to what level you plan to take your dog in training. Every owner has an idea of how you want the dog to perform. At this point it doesnt matter as the basic obedience will be required no matter where you decide to go. COME,SIT ,STAY,HEEL (and I think DOWN) are the foundation for any training.

I am picking up my WPG May 28th.

Fred, Do you fly often with Chase? I am looking to buy a cargo crate for my WPG but cannot seem to find which size crate would be most appropriate. I have read that they cannot be too big and I want him to be comfortable. I am hopping to buy one now that will fit when he is full grown. He should be close to the size of a Draathar. I want to crate train him and have this in our home when I pick him up. Thanks

will i have my 14 month ES and will be gun shot training her next week after all the rain thats comimg stops or dry up. after that it will be shot to wing. looking forward to the fall for her first trip out.
