Hey guys just to remind hunters that have a moose lic this year. Turning on the radio in the morning to here where there are moose sighting is a good way to get your moose on the first day of the season. In the morning there are anywhere from 5 - 10 sighting each morning and one or two of them maybe in the area you got your's in. Good luck.

Ken, I have to disagree with this and can see where you are coming from all at the same time.

I disagree with road hunting and think it should be outlawed. The problem with the road hunters (some, not all) is they have no clue what they are at. Not sure what it is like out your way but way up on the northern penn. its a big problem. Speed limit 90 km/h and you get some people cruising along the road doing about 20, causes a serious road hazard. I have came around a turn before doing about 90 or 100 and nearly rear ended some of these idiots. If you're not going to get off the main road and hunt then give it up. There's really no words to express how much highway hunters piss me off.

On the other hand sure listen to the radio. You will hear one was spotted and know there is a moose in the area. But for frig sakes park your car and walk in the nearest bog where the moose could be hanging out.

Sorry shane i didn't mean for hunters to hunt on the side of the road, but to hunt in the woods like you are suppose to. I put up a post road side hunters. I hate the fack the people hunt on the side of the road and it should be banded. Numbers where down last year and people did not get there moose, thought this might be a way to help some people out. Sorry about that.

No need for apologies. Just with all the attention the media is giving to the moose vehicle collisions lately it's got me riled up a little.  The less negative attention us hunters get the better.  Next thing ya know the road warriors will be driving around looking at twitter to find a moose.

lol

I have heard  this excuse used several times concerning road hunting and I think it's time for my  2 cents . If you are traveling at 90 to 100 kph in a 90 going around a turn  bear in mind that the the vehicle that is moving at 20 k's is moving away from you  and is increasing the distance in which you have to stop. If it had been a moose that had been standing in the road and in one spot would it have been possible to avoid hitting it. There is little doubt in my mind as to who  the idiot is in these situations .

                  Albert.

Albert this has nothing to do with hitting a moose. It has to do with people being too lazy to get out of their vehicle to hunt. Plus the road obstruction and hazard these people cause.

As for you implying that I am the idiot here, I was simply stating MY opinion on the matter.  Sounds like you are a road hunter and I offended you.

If it had been a moose  or any other obstruction could you have stopped? I am , indeed offended , but I'm willing to bet you will never guess the reason for it.

                    Albert.

Driving at that speed yes. I have been there and done it. Its not against the law for a moose to obstruct traffic but it is for a vehicle.  I know how to drive and have been avoiding moose all my life. Why just 3 weeks ago in a 50 km stretch I spotted 61 animals, several of those on the road.

As for guessing why you are offended, I'm not that into guessing games.

That is a very unfair comparison to make. a Moose or any other obstruction is a variable that cannot really be controlled. You cannot control what any animal will do. If it decides to cross the road then it will, if it doesn't want to then it won't. BUT if road hunting was outlawed and enforced than at least that is one variable that is taken out of the equation and therefore makes the roads safer. that is something that can be controlled and could help in saving people from serious injury if not death.

Radio reports tell you where it was  at a given time , not where it is.

             Albert.

But if you go to the closest bog or open area you can call that moose out. Moose don't roam very far. I have seen moose say in one place for a few months befor it moves on, and if not shot will come back to bread. You will know that in a kl or two that there is a moose and you have a good chance of getting it.This is just another way to better the odds.
