NOTE:
"... fishing villages along Newfoundland's rocky shores became known for producing a hardy strain of water dogs. By the mid-1800s, Newfoundland's retrievers were in high demand for their intelligence and strong swimming ability. As a result of this popularity, Newfoundland is the origin of several modern retrievers." Bill Nichol, Born to Hunt:

Can you be clearer on how he is losing the hair.If its coming from all one spot you might want to have it checked. If it seems to be coming from everywhere most likely its a spring shed.I comb out Chase with a tool called the Furminator and it amazes me how much hair can come out. Try a good brushing out and see how it goes. If he seems healthy otherwise Id wouldnt worry. But when in doubt a trip to vet altho expensive will give you piece of mind.

Looking for some advice here, before I make a trip to the vet with Max. He will be 1 year old on June 12 (share the same birthday). He is a Yellow Lab. I noticed a large amount of fur loss. Is this because it is his first real shed before the summer months? I have recently changed his food but the shedding was ongoing before I introduced the new food. So I can rule out the food. He never eats table scraps or treats out of the ordinary. Anyone else have this happen?

Are there any clubs in St. John's area that get together to train Labrador retrievers for bird and or rabbit hunting?

I have a dog who is 18 months, she is my first dog. I have done some training from a book but would like to find a club or course to enroll in.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
