NOTE:
"... fishing villages along Newfoundland's rocky shores became known for producing a hardy strain of water dogs. By the mid-1800s, Newfoundland's retrievers were in high demand for their intelligence and strong swimming ability. As a result of this popularity, Newfoundland is the origin of several modern retrievers." Bill Nichol, Born to Hunt:

Hi, I have a 5 month old Golden Retriever puppy that I'm going to train and I was wondering at what age should I start the field training. I've read that 6 months is a good time to start. Anyone have some good advise it would be great.

Over the past three seasons I have been fortunate to see some amazing dog work, both in Drahthaars and in Labradors.
I have on many occasions just sat back and said WOW.
When developed to its full potential its a sight to behold.

The time and effort required to train dogs to these levels is amazing. However with a well thought out plan and by laying a proper foundations. ( Training begins the day you bring your puppy home) it amazing how progress can me made progressively.
Probably the sing biggest mistake is trying to go to way too fast.
